Certificate in Business Computing

The certificate is intended for individuals desiring to increase their applied knowledge of information systems in business organizations. It is designed for individuals desiring to gain an appropriate educational background for pursing a career in the information systems profession. The program of study consists of a minimum of 15 semester hours of computer-related courses with a focus on developing and deploying computer solutions to business problems and opportunities. The certificate is a graduate program that requires admittance to the College of Graduate Studies, which is responsible for awarding the certificate upon successful completion of the requirements of the program. A bachelor’s degree is the minimum prior education required for admittance to this program of study. A maximum of six credit hours of equivalent graduate course work may be transferred into the program from another accredited institution. Students may follow one of two available areas of emphasis within the certificate — (1) enterprise software and (2) custom developed software. The enterprise software area of emphasis provides a specific focus on the SAP R/3 System software.
