Notes:
- Molex Inc. is a $1.4 billion manufacturer of electronic, electrical and fiber-optic connectors, switches and cables. Molex implemented the R/3 family of applications at its Singapore manufacturing facility within one year, with worldwide implementation of R/3 3.0 expected to begin at more than 40 locations in early 1997. When the implementation is complete, R/3 will permit Molex's 40 offices to feel and act as one company and will help ensure consistent service and manufacturing standards worldwide.
- Synopsys, Mountain View, Calif.Synopsys is a $390 million manufacturer of software and hardware design automation tools for the electronics and computer industries and employs 1,500 people. Synopsys went live in 11 months with most financial accounting applications and expects to go live with sales and distribution, materials management and the remaining financial accounting applications in July 1996. Synopsis chose R/3 to standardize its operations and improve efficiencies across its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in North America and its sales offices in North America, Asia and Europe. With R/3's integration and multinational capabilities, Synopsys has improved the communication of data and information flow internally and has improved customer service. Before the availability of R/3, Synopsis customers sometimes endured a multiple ordering system when ordering products from offices that did not share the same computer system. "Our implementation has been very successful. We put together a team of our very best people from around the world. We wanted to make sure that the team represented the business internationally and across all business functions. With our team, we developed an integrated prototype. The work on that prototype drove the rest of the work on the project. The key to our success was a focus on integration and business process rather than function or organizational responsibilities." (Wanda Holmes, MIS Director, Synopsys Inc.)
